VAMFF Cultural Program 2016!

We are excited to be part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival Cultural Program for 2016!

Opening our 2016 Concert Season with a bang, The New Palm Court Orchestra unites with Melbourne menswear label Vincent Li and award winning soloist Maximilian Riebl to celebrate the poetic, the theatrical, the fantastic in a magical evening of fashion & music at Deakin Edge, Fed Square on Saturday 27th February as part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Cultural Program Project Series 2016.

Maximilian Riebl (Counter Tenor) 2015 Australian Singing Competition Winner joins the NPCO to present a magical evening of chamber music, spanning the renaissance through to jazz and contemporary works, matched by a showcase of Vincent Li’s unique garments.

Vincent Li is an emerging Australian Menswear Designer who established his label in 2014. The traditionally established rules of menswear are bent, and the innovative ideas are experimented. Styles incline towards ambigender but still retain masculinity. Often reflecting East Asian aesthetics and philosophies, Li’s work combines different ethnic elements, juxtaposing textures and materials.

From 6.30pm-7.00pm, Carol Saffer (Founder, Computer Marker Services & NPCO Ltd Board Director) will moderate a Pre-Concert Panel Discussion with composer Dan Walker and Designer Vincent Li, looking at the important contribution of fashion and music to our cultural landscape and the role of improvisation and individual expression across both industries.
