NPCO inaugural Essence Series @ Melbourne Recital Centre Salon

Thanks to everyone who came along on Thursday night for the first of our NPCO Essence Duo concerts at the Melbourne Recital Centre, featuring clarinetist and multi-instrumentalist Karen Heath in concert with Artistic Director Gemma Turvey. It was such a fun evening, and we’re looking forward to more Essence concerts in the Salon this year!

About NPCO Essence

The NPCO Essence Series showcases the fine talents of some of the New Palm Court Orchestra’s core players in duo and trio performance with Artistic Director Gemma Turvey. It’s a great way for audiences to get closer to some of the NPCO musicians, representing the essence of the full ensemble. Over three concerts at the Melbourne Recital Centre Salon, the series will feature multi-instrumentalist Karen Heath (April 23rd), cellist Anna Orzech and violinist Jeremy Blackman (July 28th), and percussionist and vibraphone virtuoso Craig Beard (November 9th). Concerts will include compositions by Australian composers including Gemma Turvey and NPCO core artists, as well as arrangements of familiar works such as jazz standards, traditional folk tunes and classical works including From Jewish Life by Ernest Bloch and Arvo Pärt’s transcendent Spiegel im Spiegel. For tickets visit npco.com.au/concerts
