NPCO draws the final curtain
A message from NPCO Chair, Carol Saffer and Artistic Director, Gemma Turvey
On behalf of the board of directors and the musicians of the New Palm Court Orchestra it is with deep regret we announce the orchestra will cease performances and cease trading as at Sunday, 30 June 2019.
In the performing art space, the goal of financial stability and sustainability is a goal that is often hard to achieve. Since NPCO first graced the stage we have worked hard to realise that aim.
We have helped enhance lives through music and grown over these years. We take immense pride in our endeavours and our triumphs.
We have accomplished sell out performances, promoted the art of improvisation and educated young musicians through our Maestro & Me program with Buninyong Primary School, performed at diverse venues from the iconic Melbourne Recital Centre to the East Melbourne Synagogue and held soirees in our Richmond studio.
As hard as we have worked, the organisation is no longer sustainable past this financial year.
We would not have come this far without the tireless energy, commitment and talent of our Artistic Director and founder Gemma Turvey and the support of our board directors, sponsors, Friends of NPCO, volunteers and you, our audiences.
From the bottom of our hearts we thank you.
We encourage all our supporters to keep championing Australian music and musicians regardless of genre. For without music the world is a sadder place.
