2019 Concert Season Launched
NPCO’s 2019 Concert Season is a musical feast of bridging traditions.
The full 9 piece NPCO return to the Melbourne Recital Centre Salon with two highlight concerts for 2019 – My Ireland (Mise Eire) on Thursday 14th March and Passages on Thursday 31st October, both part of the Centre’s Local Heroes program.
NPCO will premiere two major new works composed by Artistic Director, pianist and composer Gemma Turvey during her recent 2018 Prelude Composer Residency at Gallop House, Perth. Gemma will perform her first Piano Concerto Banrion with the NPCO as part of the My Ireland (Mise Eire) concert at Melbourne Recital Centre on 14th March. Her new concert work Mountain Pass for NPCO will feature in the Passages concert at Melbourne Recital Centre on 31st October.
NPCO is excited to again be working with several outstanding Australian guest artists in 2019, including tenor Dan Walker and Irish fiddle master Rob Zielinski who join NPCO for My Ireland (Mise Eire) on Thursday 14th March at Melbourne Recital Centre.
NPCO is also honoured to be part of an exclusive preview of Yamaha’s new Spatial Audio Soundstage at MPavilion’s closing night concert on Sunday 3rd February.
NPCO continues its commitment to children’s music education in 2019 with their fourth annual Music on the Mount collaboration with Buninyong Primary School in regional Victoria. NPCO is seeking funding to also continue their Maestro & Me composition program with Buninyong Primary School in 2019.
Friends of NPCO will enjoy an enhanced 2019 program of soirees and special events with core players including a Summer Soirée in Queen Victoria Gardens, a Regional Soirée at Ballarat Art Gallery, and a special Wine Tasting Soirée with Shaw + Smith.
